Sickness In The Trenches
-In the bad conditions of WW1 trenches, sickness and disease spread rapidly. All the soldiers had body lice and also had to find of mice that carried other diseases through the trenches. Two of the main diseases that soldiers suffered from were trench foot and trench mouth.
-One of the worst stresses of trench warfare was shellshock. Shellshock was cause by the non-stop firing of guns and artillery and the threat of death. It would cause soldiers nervous breakdowns and would be hospitalized when they went home.

Shellshock
Shellshock is psychological trauma that many soldiers experienced in trenches on some of the major battle fronts in WW1. Shellshock was caused by the intensity of the artillery strikes and fighting. It left soldiers with the inability to reason, sleep, walk, or talk.
Trench foot
Trench foot is a fungal infection brought on by a lot of exposure to damp, cold conditions allied to poor environmental hygien. Many soldiers had such bad cases of trench foot that they either had to get their toes or feet amputated.
